Hi .. love some advice Recently got into Nordic touring/skiing (borrowed gear) and following a trip to Greenland and more to come I hope, want to pair this up with some kite power. Really need some advice on a nordic ski that will be ideal for general touring 75% of the time, nothing too extreme in terms of slopes, but will also be good for pairing up with a kite to make some mileage when I hit the frozen lakes. Have Kite buggy experience, but not kite surfing! Think I know a 'bit' about what kite and control system to go with, but would love some advice from someone who has been through this. Also I suppose bindings and the like, but I have a new pair of Alpina BC boots ( NNN ) so really dont want to change them. Oh yes .. 5ft 10" and 80kg Any advice much appreciated, most of what I can find is linked to powering downhill Skis and snowboards ! |

Bit out of my expertise to give you advice, but it is fairly well know that any ski will work with a kite. Most kiters go with the old straight skis in hard conditions and for that extra half knot of speed. But the reality is that you need to find what is comfortable for you in your conditions. The only thing I would caution against is using x-country ski bindings that do not release. Some people get by without injury, but others do not. A kite is always a variable engine harnessing an invisible power source, much like skiing off a lip and not knowing what is below. The "LAKAWA" website has good numbers of kite skiers in the Minneapolis, Minnesota USA area that could give you some more ideas. |
