Ozone announced a new kite today named the Magic Carpet.

Legendary Ozone kite designer Rob Whittall said that the new kite uses leading edge Ram Jet technology out of India to create its own wind. A revolutionary bar and lines were developed from carbon nanotubes 100 times stronger than steel. Rob said this is the same technology NASA is researching to build a future space elevator.

Pro rider Chasta recently tested the kite and was actually able to jump over the Alps on a windless night! Here's a link to a video of the record setting jump -

"Jump over the Alps"... as seen from downtown Guadalajara. That's some exceptionally clear Mexican air.

The European and Russian Space Agencies are using kite-line material, Dyneema (aka Spectra), to try and lower packages from space.

Perhaps they need a lesson from Chasta on the re-entry.

What's next kiteboarding showing up in Sprite commercials and Lames Bond movies?

Some of the filming for the next Bond movie is 'likely' to be shot in the Austrian Alps, at Vorarlberg (according the the fan site ); looks like they have snow:
