When you say land do you mean snow covered land or dirt?

If you're talking snowkiting, take what you've got and have at it. The only time you might want to be careful is when it's been really warm and then got really cold, and left nasty ice jards. These conditions are hard on all kites, and bridles.

Older inflatables used to be hard to relaunch so they would get worn in the process of trying to relaunch them, and prior to one pump systems pumping up was a pain. Your Ion will do just fine.

If you're talking riding on dirt, I'd be aware of what you were crashing it onto. Dirt, grass: good, sticks, rocks: bad. And as is the case with all kites, give yourself plenty of room downwind.
