Post Trying Snowkiting
I'm travelling to new zealand for the winter season this year. I have been kitesurfing for 4 year now and I'm quite confident in my flying skills, I have also been snowboarding for a number of years as well. However this is the first time I'll be combining the two of them together.
Due to baggage allowences when flying I want to to bring just the one kite with me along with my snowboard. Now at home I use my 12m mostly on the water and when Landboarding I would use the 9m. I was thinking the 9m would be the better option to bring with me. All my kites are LEIs. Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
Ferg.

Ferg,

I haven't been to New Zealand, but I know a few people who have. The footage coming back from there is pretty incredible. If you're a proficient kitesurfer, snowkiting should be easy to pick up. Nevertheless, it's prudent to start out on a smaller kite. An alternative would be to start in lighter winds with your 12 m. I fly foils on snow, so I can't give you too much advice on how to fly your LEIs. "How to Snowkite" from http://www.snowkitefilms.com has tons of good information about LEIs on snow. I highly encourage you to buy it, because $40 spent on the video is better than $400 spent on hospital bills and equipment repair. Have fun with the Kiwis.
