I'm sure its tough to predict wind conditions on the side of a mountain, but these folks had some clues that what they were doing wasn't wise: 1. exposed rocks (and ancient buildings!?) directly downwind and feet away 2. strong variable winds (He could hardly hold an edge at the start of the film, but then had to sit down and s-turn the kite just to change direction seconds later.) --- It's not that I haven't made poor judgment calls myself, but I guess I've made enough to realize the value of steady wind and a solid helmet.
