Hill Climbing: Upski!!
Hey all, just want to spread the word, I discovered Upskiing last year, and this is a whole different animal for wind mountaineering & hill climbing. At 24m projected area, the dome shaped canopy has all the power anyone needs for cruising mountains. Its venting/depower system allows you to control your speed in very high wind. Its way more reliable than any of my kites in gusty/turbulent wind. Its short lines make it easy to launch/pack in any conditions. Very powerful & very cool!!

Thanks for sharing! I took the liberty of re-sizing the image... It was too big for the frame before.
Tell me, how does the UpSki perform in gusts?

Re: Hill Climbing: Upski!!
Its awesome in gusts, It absorbs them really well. Its also really easy to dump a little, a lot, or all of the power at any time as the wind or terrain changes. Its a one size design which flies in a wind range ~5 to +50mph. Also, since it flies so close to you, wind shifts are not very problematic. It easily shifts to follow the wind without falling out of the sky, no issues with overflying it out of the window, etc. In turbulent gusty conditions where I am hesitant to fly the right size kite the UpSki does great. The photo is a pretty good example of places I wouldn't fly a kite: 50 ft from the summit at ~13,700ft winds shifting 30+ deg, peak gusts over 35mph, 200ft+ vertical drop over the cornice on the right side of the ridge.

Re: Hill Climbing: Upski!!
here I used Snowkite,....to go across about 4 miles of terrain, then up to the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire... I understand your excitement of not wanting to skin or hike uphill... wind does all the work!
