Anybody a summersurfer? aka Landboards?
Hey I'm wondering if anyone else on the forum is like myself. I focus on snowkiting, but definitely die for my landboard in the summer as well.
Anyone else keep themselves in season year round?

Hey Matt,
I like to kitegroundboard/kitelandboard/dirtsurf. The problem is that I've never gotten around to buying a board... I just mooch off of friends. Considering that I live only ten minutes from a flat, sandy beach, I should probably get my hands on a board. Do you know of anyone who's selling a used one?

Eric- I saw one at powerkiteforum.com for a pretty good price. http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=11019$269 +shipping. Its kinda spendy, bet definitely way less than a new. I got a wicked deal on the MBS Comp 95, and it is a great board. Super light and very maneuverable.

Re: Anybody a summersurfer? aka Landboards?
Thanks guys. I guess I'm aiming for a price range of $150 to $200. Ben, I like that the MBS 90 is built burley, but I really prefer the feel of a wood board. I'll do some homework and come up with a specific model. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Re: Anybody a summersurfer? aka Landboards?
yea most of the upper model boards are suprisingly heafty until you get up on the high end (mbs pro 90 for example) due to thick trucks and "bomberlite" or composite decks. If your lookin for wood, look into the mbs atom, and the Ground industries AK103. Both are in your price range, but the ak103 you might have to find used. Both decks are canadian maple. The ak103 only weighs 13.9 pounds, which beats all except one of their own boards (the lightest board is only the next model up, not even high end). The atom comes in at 15.3 pounds, and is more geared toward beginner boarders. I was a big fan of the 103 when i was looking into a board, because they are actually equal to or lighter than all of the ground industries line, and all of the mbs line except for the core and pro 90. So their is definitely something to be said for wood decks. I actually went the super cheap super light route and got an SDS mountainboard that came with mbs velcro bindings. 12 lbs 90 bucks, hasnt failed yet! The ironic part is, the parts that are showing the most wear are the mbs bindings!!!

Re: Anybody a summersurfer? aka Landboards?
I kite year round but up here in Thunder Bay the spring and late fall(roughly 2 months) are a little boring, got a few fields around. But my question is how well do the landboards deal with sink holes, nothing crazy just like a foot in diameter and like 2 to 3 inches deep?

hey there, the boards usually won't tank really hard on the holes. The only time I've been toppled by a hole was a gopher hole that was about 8 inches around, and I couldnt see the bottom haha.
For the most part the boards do pretty good actually.
