Speed contest: 2 winner and an iPhone app
Happy New Year. We hope this year has come in with some cold temps and lovely new snow.
We have had a great turnout from the East Coast this week with
Gary Kjelleren of Vermont taking the week with a speed of 53.1mph on his skis on a very breezy day on the south side of Sand Bar. Congrats to Gary who wins an
Ozone wallet.
We would also like to announce and congratulate the winner of the second early season prize (Chris Krug took the overall early season). For finding a secret (his words) hay field in Massachusetts in the single digits of December and nearly reaching 30 mph, we are awarding
Bob Christian an
Ozone wind sock. His effort to go snowkiting so early has not gone unnoticed.
This week's speediest will win a
Dynafit hat. For those of you with iPhones, life participating in our contest has just gotten easier. Thanks to Jeff Bartkowski of Albany, NY we got to see just how easy it can be. He is using the app: MotionX-GPS. After riding, he snapped a photo and sent all of his info to us. It included verifiable gpx data as well as a link to Google maps showing his track and a list of his top speed, distance, time, etc. and his photo (taken while riding) very easy, very cool.
You can see the whole list so far as well as prize winners, an example of the data from the MotionX-GPS and some video from the riders in Maine having a great day ripping around on Long Lake on:
We hope your 2010 is safe, fun, snowy and breezy.
Think snow,
