Post Re: snowboard size
I am mostly regurgitating what I have read, but longer twins usually have a larger side cut radius. See the 5150 "Stroke" or the Morrow "RV" charts (they are the same board with different paint). These charts tell you that the longer boards have a sidecut radius well over 800cm. With a smaller radius on a snow board, you turn quicker when you edge. With a longer radius, you turn slower when you edge. But the problem with a fast turning board is that you are only turning with the edge less than 10% of the time. 90% of the time you have the board edged but are trying to keep it going in a straight line. So larger sidecut radii snowboards can get you closer to having a feel of a kite specific sidecut, though it's still way short of actually being kite specific. The kite specific Liquid Force/ Decosse Alliance side cut radius is listed at 900cm. Some downhill race boards have side cut radii of 10.9m or more. This would be great in a straight line and you would be exceedingly fast on this board, but you would not be able to turn quickly. Thus all of your flat and kicker jumps would have to be planned well in advance.

It is also a good idea to get a wide board if you have size 10US or larger feet, This will allow you to keep your heels out of the snow when edging. If you heels drag in the snow, you will have more drag and it will take more lower body work to keep pushing the board in front of you. Again, the Morrow "RV" and 5150 "Stroke" are nice and wide.

As far as performance on a mountain (not kiting) bigger wider boards give you more float in powder but reduce responsiveness on groomed (packed) conditions. But if you are "short for your weight" like me, just get the biggest wide twin shape/twin flex board that you can find.
