Post Re: Snowkite in Sioux Falls area
Hey any kiters in the area have any good spots to get out and practice or with mnt boards... I am new to the area and have been snowkiting for the last couple of years. Just looking for some information on the area and anyone willing to fly some kites!

Google earth is the best bet for finding some good spots. The key to using this mapping system is to press down on your mouse scroll button to change from an overhead view to a 3D horizontal view. This will allow you to determine where the land will block straight line winds and cause turbulence. This works for snow, water, and even the spots that you will find that you can landboard on. Mostly you will be looking for soccer complexes and Sioux Falls does have them.

Good luck and maybe we will see you up there on the first snow storm.

Cool, that has been the best tool so far. although the best spots seem to always be nice pastures:) Have you been on the Missouri near yankton? I have never seen it but it looks big enough...does it freeze up well or is it too sheltered. where do you normally go? thanks for the help!
